The doctrines of Confucianism are expressed in nine books. Confucius himself was mainly a political and social reformer and his doctrines are in the main rather a system of ethics than a religion. The actual name of Confucius was Kung-Fu-Tsze. As was the case with Taoism, the ancient cosmological dualistic doctrine of the Yang and the Yin became an important part of the background of Confucianism.
